Three Mechanical Departments in Graduate School of Science and Engineering, the Department of Mechanical Sciences and Engineering, the Department of Mechanical and Control Engineering and the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering, are united in a large and unique group of departments related to Mechanical and Control Systems Engineering. The purpose of the three departments is the training of scientific and technological experts in fields of mechanical, information and control engineering. They are expected to be active in the front lines in the research and engineering fields in the world. There are 35 research fields in the three departments. The research fields are constructed by 63 academic members whose research performances are ranked the first class in the world and are classified into three departments with three key words of "Mechanical Science and Engineering," "Mechanical and Control Engineering" and "Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering." Furthermore, by integrating the curriculum for 3 departments with that of the Department of Mechanical and Environmental Informatics, students can have wider choice of selecting courses of study which fit themselves the most. We provide students a chance to learn deeply and widely about the research fields they selected by letting them involve in the frontier of science and technology of distinctive research fields in each department. Therefore, the students in the departments can take full advantage of receiving such high quality of education.
